It was the fifth straight year for the Acosta Bridge Pride March that started in when the state forced the transportation authority to turn off Pride Month lighting before community backlash caused a reversal that reinstated the lights. For the second year in a row, Pride Month celebrants lit up a bridge in downtown Jacksonville with high-powered, hand-held lights after the state continued to block the use of rainbow colors on lighting systems wired into its bridges across Florida. The group left the Main Street bridge to the Acosta Bridge and lined its pedestrian walkway where they simultaneously turned on sets of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple lights. In a last-minute change this time, organizers moved to the nearby Acosta bridge after the lift span of the Main Street bridge went up as about people were marching to take their places on it.
